Origin[]
On May 4, 1998, the US Army requested submissions for a new semi-automatic 12-gauge combat shotgun. Benelli Armi SpA responded with the M4 Super 90. The M4 was tested, along with other competetors, and came out as the Army's new combat shotgun, designated the M1014. The M1014 was first issued to the Marine Corps in 1999.
Specifications[]
The M1014 is a semi-automatic, 12-gauge shotgun with a 9-round fixed tubular magazine mounted under the barrel of the gun. The M1014, being a shotgun, is only accurate at extremely close range (the gun's in-game statistics claim a 40-meter range) but fires several pellets at once in a pattern that spreads out more the longer the range of the shot being made. It is a very lightweight weapon, and is used primarily for clearing buildings as it is easy to attain a target (as aiming is not necessarily required) and fire rapidly, if needed. It is one hit kill within 20 metres.
Attachments[]
Being a close-quarters shotgun that fills a very specialized role, there are only two attachments available for the M1014.
- M1014 CQB - M1014 with an EOTech-style holographic sight
- M1014 RDS - M1014 with an Aimpoint-style red dot sight
